What is Touchbistro?

Touchbistro POS is a hybrid solution for restaurants, bars and cafes. It provides the best of both scenarios – cloud and on-premise. All information pertaining to the restaurant is accessible anytime, from anywhere, and business operations can be managed remotely from any device. Even in case of internet disruptions, the restaurant can continue its operations without any hindrance. All the operations from taking orders to processing payments can be performed seamlessly using Touchbistro.

  • Ease of Use: The solution’s simple, intuitive POS features makes life easy to all employees. The seating options can be modified, table layouts customized and orders and payments done right at the table. Payments can be processed efficiently at the table, so that it can be freed up faster. Customers can sign directly on the screen for a paperless experience. TouchBistro has partnered with many of the prominent payment gateways such as Mercury, Merchant Warehouse, Premier Payments, PayPal Mobile etc.
  • Bill splitting: With a few simple steps, bills can be split without errors, or wasting too much time.
  • Order Processing: Using TouchBistro, it is possible to take customer orders and directly send them to the kitchen or bar. There is no need to manually take orders back and forth through different terminals. Receipts can be shared electronically or printed through any of the standard printers integrated to the solution.
  • Better Customer Experience: With integrated customer profiling, employees can provide personalized, efficient and error-free service to their customers, leading to better customer experience and higher retention.

As of October, 2015 TouchBistro is EMV-compliant and offers an EMV solution to U.S. customers.

Avoid at all costs

It has only been a few days and I am already regretting my decision. I feel like I've just wasted my money on something that does not work at all. The only upside I can mention is its compatibility with iPads.

  • iPad compatible.

  • Not user friendly, not completely cloud-based, no option for tipping.

Disappointing Experience

In my seven years as a bar owner, this has been the most disappointing POS system I've encountered. I strongly caution against placing too much trust in their sales pitches.

Pros
  • Fixed rate for licensing, along with a straightforward sign-up process
Cons
  • The devices proved to be highly unreliable
  • On the very first day of use, two iPads froze
  • The pre-authorization function is not effectively implemented
  • The customer service provided has been abysmal
  • After just four days of use, we decided to switch to another system
  • To my astonishment, I received a bill for $14,000
