What is Snyk?

Snyk is a cybersecurity and application security company located in Boston. The mission of this company is to empower entrepreneurs and help them in developing their businesses fastly and securely. It provides secure software development with open-source code and detects as well as fixes all vulnerabilities automatically.

What is Snyk Used For?

The demand for snyk is increasing day by day as we are now entering a digital era. Almost every company now needs a good application security platform. Many leading enterprises have been snyk’s customers, including Google, DATADOG, Revolut, Intuit, and Salesforce.

Snyk helps developers in finding and fixing vulnerabilities related to open-source container images, libraries, and secure and fast software development. It combines developer tooling with UX skills and expert application security knowledge to provide a perfect solution to developers that keeps them secure every day.

What are the Top Snyk Features?

Snyk is a cloud-based developer testing and security platform. The most exciting thing about it is that it doesn't affect the overall velocity and keeps detecting and fixing vulnerabilities. Many new features have been updated according to the user demands that provide ultra-security without slowing down the development process. Following are some most demanding features provided by this security platform.

  • Runtime monitoring

It is the most famous feature among developers that allows them to monitor the behavior of all open-source components during runtime. Snyk Integrates with the project repository to analyze any suggesting remediation activities, flagging vulnerable dependencies and open-source dependencies.

  • Reachable Vulnerabilities

One of the biggest problems developers face is that they are overwhelmed by vulnerabilities. Even the smallest projects need to depend on a huge number of open-source libraries. You can focus on reachable vulnerabilities by deprioritizing the unreachable ones. Snyk program function allows you to quickly find which vulnerabilities are reachable.

  • Score Prioritization

This feature prioritizes the most critical issues and fixes them first. This prioritization is done using project attributes, e.g., Business criticality, life cycle stage, and environment. Moreover, the customized security policies prioritize and deprioritize the vulnerabilities automatically.

What are the Main Snyk Benefits?

Here are some major benefits of using snyk that make it one of the best application security platforms worldwide.

  • Helps you in handling vulnerable dependencies easily
  • Unveils performance and security bugs through its semantic analysis
  • The developer first security tool allows you to produce more code in less time without any need for compilation
  • Easily connects with your pipelines, tools, and workflow
  • Allows contemporary developers to embrace security to improve the overall quality and speed of software
  • Higher productivity with less disruption due to excessive vulnerabilities

How Much Does Snyk Cost?

The cost of a Snyk program depends on the plan you choose. It offers two different plans. The business plan costs around $139 per dev/month, while the team plan costs about $98 per dev/month.

A cost-free plan is also available, but it contains only some limited features. In the free plan, you are allowed to have 100 code tests, 200 open-source tests, 100 container tests, and 300 laC tests per month. In paid plans, there is no limit, and you can enjoy unlimited tests.

Experimented with appropriate Docker images.

This program generates excellent results and is helpful for screening for vulnerabilities and dependencies. It does not, however, support photos larger than 2GB. This tool gives me an overview of production security challenges, which helps me tackle difficulties.

Pros
  • Effective dependency and vulnerability scanning.
Cons
  • Limited image size support.

Wide-ranging and flexible security evaluation

Snyk has revolutionized the way our development team works. Its ability to track user-submitted variables and do thorough code scanning guarantees that our code is secure and devoid of vulnerabilities. Additionally excellent are the cost structure and the interaction with GitHub. The main drawback is that more individuals ought to use Snyk to increase online safety.

Pros
  • Highly versatile, exceptional integration with Github and competitive pricing model.
Cons
  • Not widely adopted, which limits its impact on improving overall internet security .
